Our VR Adventure at Escape Virtuality in New York City

Updated: Oct 29, 2024

FunDay searched for the ultimate VR experience in New York City, and found it! Escape Virtuality in midtown has a big variety of VR games, which is unparalleled compared to any other VR venue we’ve visited in the city.

They offer flexible VR game passes in 1-hour, 2-hour, or all-day segments, making it easy to plan a visit that fits your schedule and budget.

FunDay has been exploring and searching for the best kid-friendly expriences in the city. You can find all our recommendations here.

Now let's dive into Escape Virtuality's VR experience.

We started our VR experience with the racing simulator, and it set the tone for an incredible evening. If you're looking for an exciting activity that will thrill both you and your kids, this is it! Hop in the driver’s seat and play Project CARS 2 with incredible detail and immersion. Whether you’re racing solo or with a friend, this experience is unbeatable.

Escape Virtuality has two racing simulators that make you feel every bump and rumble strip on the tarmac. If you’re a huge Formula 1 fan, this simulator won’t disappoint! My kids were absolutely ecstatic, and I have to admit, I was just as excited. It’s a fantastic way to bond and have a blast together. Highly recommend!

Next, we went to explore the 360-degree platforms that offer access to some of the best game titles in virtual reality. We learned that one of the games featured virtual volleyball, which immediately caught our attention. Lia has been playing volleyball at school, but unfortunately, she tore her ACL and had to undergo surgery, preventing her from playing for the past year.

When she heard that she could actually play volleyball using the 360-degree platform with Ethan, she couldn't stop smiling. They both played for about 30 minutes and had an amazing time. It was such a joy to see her enjoying the sport she loves in a new and exciting way.

We then dove into a thrilling zombie game, as one does in the world of virtual reality. The experience was incredibly realistic, with every detail designed to immerse us fully into the post-apocalyptic world. Lia, in particular, found herself jumping with excitement and maybe a touch of fear at the intense action unfolding around us.

Next, we decided to be brave and walk the plank. This experience is designed to test your fear of heights as you step onto a plank suspended over skyscrapers, 80 stories high, all while navigating through a virtual nightmare!

After that, we headed to try some skiing with the Xtrematic platform. It's the ultimate way to experience extreme VR sports just as they were meant to be played. Feel every jump, dip, and drop with this adrenaline-pumping rig. With over 30 extreme experiences to choose from, the Xtrematic lets you unleash your inner X-Games superstar like never before.

As our day wound down, Ethan was keen on trying out gliding like a pro. It seemed like a fun way to wrap up our time at Escape Virtuality. Once he got suited up and started gliding, the excitement on his face was clear. It was a cool moment for us all to enjoy before heading home.
